Walcott welcomes competition
As Arsenal fans clamour for the addition of firepower in their frontline, in-form Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has stated he’ll welcome the addition of competition in the squad to bluster their chances of success as the January transfer window kicks open.
Olivier Giroud has been Arsenal talisman all season long but an injury to the Frenchman and Nicklas Bendtner as left Arsenal with need of a striker.
In his words: ‘To be fair that is for the manager to decide if he wants to go out and buy anyone, whoever will come to the club in January, if not it is going to make the club stronger anyway. It is always nice to have competition with players coming in, but January is such a difficult period in the transfer market to get players in, especially the top players.
‘The boss has already said that he is looking for special players and we have got a lot of special players in that dressing room,’ he added.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for Fulham’s talisman and former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov in the papers and in past months we have heard about interest in Juventus Fernando Llorente.
Days back Llorente had stated his desire to stay with the Turin club stating he’s happy in Italy.
In his words: ‘Joining Juventus was a very good move for me, now am happy,’ he told La Stampa. He further complimented his strike partner Carlos Tevez. “He is a warrior, I like his attitude.”

Gunners stay up
Arsenal left it late at the Emirates against Cardiff City
with goals from Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott ensuring the league leaders climb
back to top the log on new year’s day with a 2 – 0 victory after Manchester City
had briefly stayed up. The Gunners who showed a tired display after a congested
round of 3 games in a week got a boost from substitute Nicklas Bendtner’s goal
on the 88th minute after replacing German machine Lukas Podolski. There
were wins for title rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea as the title
race stretches on.
